Portraits
The portraits here are intimate representations of people who are very close to me such as my children and very close friends. I completed two portraits of Marie Colvin, the foreign correspondent for the Sunday Times. She was was killed in Homs, Syria 2012. The first abstract portrait was done in 2008 while Marie was in Baghdad. When Maire saw this image, she commented to me that it was “Beautiful and disturbing”.
Little did I know that I would be making another portrait, this time a realistic rendition in 2012 after her death.
